The cheapest places in Merseyside for petrol and diesel this weekend

The cheapest place in Merseyside to fill up your car is at a Tesco garage in Liverpool.

According to the latest figures provided by retailers, a driver in an average family car could save up to £3.85 filling up at this yard compared to the most expensive petrol station.

The Tesco garage on Mather Avenue, Mossley Hill charges drivers 142.9 per litre, meaning it would cost £78.60 to fill a 55 liter tank. This is based on a live petrol price feed which was set up by the government’s Competition and Markets Authority last September.

A government body has issued an alert to all motorists regarding the price of fuel. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has released new data showing “worrying” information about pump prices across the country.

Dan Turnbull, Senior Director of Markets at the CMA, said: “Drivers are feeling the pinch as fuel prices have risen since January. We are particularly concerned about high margins which indicate weakened competition and are not a good sign for drivers.” The average price of a liter of petrol in Merseyside this week is 146.3p.

For diesel car owners, the cheapest place to fill up is Tesco garage in Liverpool. The cost of a liter of standard diesel at this yard was 149.9 lei, according to prices provided by retailers.

The cheapest place to buy petrol in the country is at a Tesco garage in Antrim and Newtownabbey, where a liter of standard petrol costs 139.9p. The most expensive petrol station in the country is a BP garage in West Northamptonshire, where drivers are charged with 173.9 liters pa.
