Shropshire aim for T20 final | The Shropshire Star

Having won three of their four completed group games, Shropshire impressively qualified for the next stage of the competition as Group Four runners-up to Oxfordshire.

They now join Berkshire and Cornwall in one of four Super 12 groups being played on Sunday, with the four eventual winners going through to T20 finals day.

Shropshire take on hosts Berkshire in Sunday’s opener in Slough at 10am.

Depending on the outcome of that game, Shropshire will then face Cornwall at either 1pm or 4.30pm and Berkshire will also play Cornwall during a packed day of T20 cricket.

Shropshire cricket boss Ed Home is looking forward to Sunday: “Berkshire are historically a strong side and Cornwall were runners-up in this competition last year.

“If we’re producing our A-game, Twenty20 cricket, as I’ve said before, it depends on one or two people having a good day, and that’s been the case for us so far this season.

“A few people have shone in the games we’ve won so hopefully if we can have more of the same on Sunday there’s no reason we can’t do well.”

Shropshire’s No 12 squad shows two changes from that selected for the county’s last two group games against Wales at St Asaph earlier this month.

Former Oxfordshire all-rounder Ollie Currill is set to return from injury to make his Shropshire debut and there is a recall for Shifnal off-spinning all-rounder Shaun Lorimer. They replace unavailable Shrewsbury batsman Dan Humes and injured Shifnal seamer Ben Roberts.

Home added: “Shaun Lorimer made his Shropshire debut in this competition last year against Northumberland. It’s a good opportunity for Shaun as he had another good season last year.

“We’ve had a couple of injuries and Ben Roberts pulled a calf muscle, but we’re delighted to have Ollie Currill back in the 12 after he played for his club last weekend.”
