“Emily in Paris” got it wrong – Krakow is better than Rome

It was much cheaper to visit Poland.

I saved a lot of money on attractions in Poland.

Unlike Emily, who went to Rome on a fashion mogul’s dime, I felt like I had to watch every penny in our time. European travel.

Krakow was much more accessible than Rome. Most of the major attractions were free at least one day a week, which helped stretch my travel budget.

Because we were able to save so much, we even made a night and ate a meal at a Michelin star restaurant — a luxury I wouldn’t even have considered in Rome.

Krakow was full of well-preserved history.

We all learned something new on our trip to Poland.

When Emily leaves for Rome, she heads to the Colosseum. We were also fascinated by the ancient history of Rome in our time Italian vacationbut Krakow surprised us with an incredible mix of older and newer sites.

As Luc explained in the episode, the city is special because it remained relatively unscathed during World War II. It is one of the best preserved cities in Europe, with a charming old town square and a charming Jewish quarter.

One of our favorite places was Wawel Castle, built in the 11th century. It has a deep, underground lair that some believe once housed dragons.

Krakow was also an important place for us to learn more about modern history, including visiting Schindler’s Factory and observing nearby. Auschwitz-Birkenau.

We can’t get enough of Polish food.

I loved the first ones meals in Romebut pizza and pasta quickly became repetitive. It didn’t taste that different from what I eat at home.

In contrast, the food in Krakow was delicious and varied. While I ate a lot of perogies, I also enjoyed a Middle Eastern feast at Hamsa and ate in a delightful outdoor restaurant to the sounds of live music.

It was hard to go far in Krakow without passing a coffee shop that served freshly baked pastries. Our favorite, by far, was The Bunny Cafe, which had delicious coffee and adorable bunnies to pet.

Emily would have loved to take Instagram-worthy photos from there.

There was almost no crowd to contend with.

We had more room to explore in Krakow.

Of course, Emily and Marcello had the entire Trevi Fountain and Collessum to themselves. But this is pure fiction.

I passed both places several times during my trip, and when I dropped a coin into the Trevi, I was standing shoulder to shoulder with other tourists who wanted me to move as quickly as possible.

Krakow had a healthy number of visitors, but I always felt like I had a little breathing room.

We had the chance to explore some gorgeous natural sites.

Krakow had all the amenities we were looking for in a big city, but was also very close to amazing natural scenery. We got the best of city life with a healthy dose of outdoor adventure.

A day trip to the mountain town of Zakopane — jover an hour outside Krakow – it was the highlight of my trip. We hiked in the mountains along the Polish-Solovkain border and took a bath geothermal heated pools.

I’m sure there is great natural beauty near Rome, but there was no way to fit it into our city plans.

Getting around was surprisingly easy.

Emily is transported around Rome on her boyfriend’s Vespa, but we had to find other ways to get around.

I found Rome’s public transport to be limited. In addition, the traffic was terrible and I often found it difficult to get a taxi.

In contrast, Krakow was very accessible on foot. It also had a great tram network and Ubers were generally more affordable.

When we got back it was very easy to ask for help with our broken Polish as it seemed almost everyone spoke English.

Emily should experience the beauty that is Krakow.

I think Emily should visit Krakow.

Jamie Davis Smith

I’m not upset that Emily went to Rome, per se. I also visited the beautiful capital of Italy, and it is at the top of many people’s travel lists.

But I will not bear the slander in Krakow.

The Polish city was beautiful, full of great food, affordable and easy to navigate. I won’t be happy until we see Emily in Krakow discovering the wonderful city for herself.
