US P/C Accident & Health DPW up 3.2% to $8.43B in 2023

Berkshire Hathaway’s DPW for lines fell 9.4% to $758.9 million.

Industry direct written premiums rose 3.2% in 2023 to $8.43 billion, with State Farm Group retaining its No. 1. The company posted 3.9% growth to $1.1 billion in direct written premiums in 2023.

SiriusPoint America Insurance Group, DPW’s US property/casualty and health lines fell 4.4% to $428.2 million and was replaced in No. 6 by Swiss Reinsurance Group, which saw an increase of premiums by 24.9%, to USD 526.7 million.

The report includes the change in DPW from the prior year, three-year adjusted market share and loss rates, and the percentage of first company underwritten for the line.
