Virgin Voyages is making big changes that passengers should like

When Virgin Voyages entered the cruise industry with its first ship, the Scarlet Lady, it did not hold itself to the standards set by its rivals.

As a company, Virgin Voyages has chosen to treat passengers differently by including most soft drinks and WiFi as part of its base fares. It also got rid of the traditional main dining room and replaced it with specialty restaurants that were included in the price of your cruise.

Virgin has also replaced the traditional buffet with a state-of-the-art food court that features multiple restaurant concepts. The upstart cruise line has made its cruises adults-only, as you must be at least 18 years old to board one of its ships.

The Scarlet Lady was a very different cruise ship that introduced the world to a very different cruise line. Now, Virgin Voyages’ first ship is heading into dry dock from November 14-28, where it will receive some key upgrades.

“New spaces, new suites and spectacular upgrades — the first lady ship is not just a facelift; she receives an all-over glow that will make your next voyage seem nothing short of extraordinary,” the cruise line shared.

Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady is getting some upgrades

During her dry dock, the Scarlet Lady will see a number of changes. The biggest could be an overhaul of its veggie restaurant Razzle Dazzle.

“The iconic Razzle Dazzle restaurant you know and love is getting a makeover. Say hello to Lucky Lotus by Razzle Dazzle, a Chinese-inspired dining concept where bold flavors from an all-new menu meet fresh and elevated decor,” shared cruise line.

In addition, a popular cafe in the food hall will receive a major upgrade.

“Coffee lovers and cocktail connoisseurs rejoice! Grounds Club, Too is being transformed into a contemporary space with a full bar and luxurious new lounge seating. Whether it’s your go-to spot for an afternoon cocktail or an evening cocktail, this is where relaxed luxury resides,” according to Virgin Voyages.

The cruise line will also add 24 brand-new Seriously Suites on Deck 11.
