Aston Villa 2023/24 Premier League prize after fourth place was confirmed

The final game of the season will be one of celebration for Aston Villa, with their season goals completed with just one game to go.

Villa’s draw against Liverpool on Monday night, along with Tottenham’s defeat against Manchester City 24 hours later, confirmed fourth place. It prompted celebrations from Unai Emery and his squad at the club’s end-of-season awards.

Traveling fans will join in the celebrations when Villa take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon. Whatever happens in that game, Villa will finish the season fourth in the Premier League and play in the Champions League next season.

So what does this mean for Emery and the club’s finances as they begin preparations for the 2024/25 campaign?

Based on last season, finishing fourth will earn Villa £52.9m in Premier League prize money, £9.3m more than they earned from seventh place in 2022/23. Each position in the Premier League is worth £3.1m more than the one below.

That figure, however, is only a fraction of what Villa will earn from the Premier League competition this season. Each club also receives a set amount of money from the league’s domestic and international broadcast deals, which represents 50% of the revenue.
