CONWAY GITTENS: I wonder, we talked about using AI to fix your resume. This is anecdotal. Yes, some of my friends feel like AI and the new computerized world is like throwing away resumes. They are clearly qualified for the job. They, you know, send in their resume and the computer throws up their resume. How we work in this age around that. So that we are not immediately thrown by technology?

ANDREW MCCASKILL: Yeah, I mean, let’s get into it. This is the career advice I would give to anyone who says they feel like this has happened to them. One is that they have to look at their resume and say, OK, if this resume isn’t working, what do I need to do to change it? Number one is that you need to start identifying your skills and talking about your skills in a different way. Look at those job descriptions for those jobs and think, here’s the job description. Here is my resume. would i hire Do the skills I’ve outlined here on my resume match the skills these people are hiring for? If something doesn’t work, you have to pivot and pivot faster.

Right, the other thing is that sending a paper resume isn’t how most people source talent anymore. So you have to be able to fight a ground game and an air game if you want to get a job in this market. So having your resume that you send in applications, great. But you also need to have an up-to-date LinkedIn profile because everyone uses LinkedIn to find talent. It’s just the thing. I would say that even though I haven’t worked at LinkedIn, the other thing that I think you have to think about is how do I set up my profile so that my skills match the type of opportunities that I want? And you have to go look for a new job with innovation. So that means, again, reaching out to your network, starting to think about who they know, going into your group chat and saying, this is a job I’m looking at down the street. It looks very good. Who do we know who works on the street? Who do we know? Who knows? someone who works on the street. That’s how people start. You’re going to have to go in there and say, I’m not going to just spray and pray and just throw all these applications out there. I’m going to be really strategic about a smaller subset of these apps and go really hard on them.
