Police alert ahead of ‘possible’ beach party in Cornwall

Police have issued a warning to schools ahead of a “possible” event in Cornwall on Saturday.

Devon and Cornwall Police said around 200 youths were believed to be planning to attend a beach party in Hayle.

Officers said it was believed “a number of young people” would travel on the train and go to Asda in Hayle to “purchase alcohol”.

The police force identified “the train station, Asda, the beach and the nearby Royal Standard pub” as potential flashpoints for illegal behaviour.

“We are aware of information about a possible event in Hayle over the weekend,” police said.

“It was put on the online group ‘Trenches/Trenchers’ and it is believed that a large number of young people are taking part,” a police spokesman said.
