Alaska Airlines reports IT outage, outage in Seattle By Reuters

(Reuters) – Alaska Airlines said on Monday it had experienced an IT system outage that caused significant disruptions to its operations, including delayed flights.

Alaska issued a ground shutdown in Seattle, it said in a statement to Reuters, adding that the issue has been resolved but expects some residual impact on operations.

The ground stop was for arrivals in Seattle and lasted about 2 hours, the airlines said.

On Sunday evening, the airline on its X account confirmed that there was an outage as several users complained that they were experiencing problems accessing its website and app.

“This was not a cyber attack or any kind of unauthorized activity. It was a certificate issue that affected multiple systems,” he added.

In April, Alaska Airlines had to ground all of its flights because of a problem while it performed an update to the system that calculates the weight and balance of its planes.
