Cabaret theater show about great sex and bad porn coming to Cornwall

A well-known feminist theater company is looking to celebrate “the power of great sex in a world full of terrible porn” this spring. Scary Little Girls, who received funding from Cornwall Council, will be touring Cornwall this spring with a revival of their famous Edinburgh show The Riot Showgrrls Club.

The cabaret entertainment, using humor, song and storytelling, will examine how we cope in these days of hyper-social media and Pornhub. Originally commissioned in 2008, Scary Little Girls brought a pro-sex anti-porn show to Edinburgh at a time when lads’ magazines were in their heyday, cabaret meant women stripped and free porn was becoming popular .

Now in 2024, host Rebecca Mordan will host a fun night of games, comedy and song to see how we feel about things in the modern age. After the show, guests will stay in the club to listen to the all-female DJ set, make their own Riot Showgrrls Club membership card or pin with our Radical Craftist, have a few drinks and chat with fellow members of the public.

Rebecca, creative director of Scary Little Girls, said: “We’ve always said it’s a fact of life that feminists make the best sex, and we’re using pulsating, electro-pop and happy beats to show why and how porn is ruining that . – and what we can do to reclaim our sex lives.

“Our show uses a cabaret format to deliver a powerful political punch, while full-on activities create a safe space for conversation, connection and creative response.”
