A man has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder in Exeter, police said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the victims were taken to hospital where they were treated for their injuries.

The force said the victims were “attacked with a knife” in Bampfylde Street, Exeter, at around 02:00 BST.

Police said their injuries were “serious but not life-threatening.”

Police said the victims, a 22-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man, were waiting at a bus stop when they were approached by an unknown suspect.

Officers remained in Bampfylde Street, Sidwell and Western Way while inquiries were ongoing, police said.

“It was further reported that the suspect fled but was found by police officers nearby.
