Thousands of homes for sale are open for people to look around, including this £750,000 property in The Green, Long Whatton, near Loughborough. It is one of 198 properties across Leicestershire taking part in the Open House event today (Saturday, May 18) and tomorrow. The three-storey period house is attached to a restored two-storey former factory. It can be used as a house or two.

Other county houses open today and tomorrow include properties on the market with estate agents Connells, Frank Innes, Spencers and William H Brown. The event involves around 8,000 properties across the country, which is believed to be the UK’s biggest open house weekend.

Nick Miller, regional director for Spencers, said: “This is a great opportunity for potential buyers to look around a number of properties in areas they are interested in over a weekend or two and help them make their decisions. on what they are really looking for.

“The East Midlands market is very active, prices are stable and there is plenty of choice out there – buyers looking to move in should strike while the iron is hot and make the most of this unique viewing opportunity. “

Simon White, area manager for Connells, added: “The reason open houses are so effective is because they allow estate agents to show a property to more people in a short space of time and create a buzz around the property. Our affiliates have been very successful in the past, often helping sellers get a higher price for their property.

“Buyers also like the more relaxed viewing experience and the ability to view multiple homes in one day.”
