Indian stocks were mixed at the close; Nifty 50 rose 0.01% Via Investing.com

Investing.com – India stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher, while losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in the NSE, the index gained 0.01% to touch a new all-time high, while the index fell 0.02%.

The best performers of the session on the were Father Steel Ltd (NS: ), which rose 4.25% or 6.54 points to trade at 160.53 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS: ) was up 3.95% or 27.30 points to end at 717.85 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS: ) was up 2.61% or 8.90 points to trade at 350.05 at the end of transactions.

The worst performers of the session were SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS: ), which declined 2.91% or 55.80 points to trade at 1,864.35 at the close. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS: ) declined 2.58% or 78.00 points to 2,950.55 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS: ) declined 1.78% or 47.60 points to 2,619.30.

Top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO: ), up 4.32% to 160.60, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO: ), up 2.70% to settle at 350.25 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO: ) which gained 1.88% to close at 1,638.00.

The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO: ), which fell 2.46% to 2,953.30 in late trade, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO: ), which lost 1.54% to settle at 11,786.75 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO: ), which fell 1.16% to 1,448.40 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the National Stock Exchange of India by 1398 to 1101, with 73 ending unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1965 declined and 1834 advanced, while 90 ended unchanged.

Shares of Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:) rose to all-time highs; gaining 3.95% or 27.30 to 717.85.

which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, fell 3.08% to 13.36.

Gold futures for December delivery rose 0.25%, or 6.70, to $2,659.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, crude for November delivery rose 2.54%, or 1.79, to $72.16 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.32% or 1.70, to 74.91 dollars per barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.14% at 83.65, while EUR/INR was up 0.33% at 93.15.

US dollar index futures were down 0.07% at 100.49.
