Arrested after man dies after being taken to hospital

DETECTIVES investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Lambeth have made an arrest.

A 25-year-old man was arrested in south London in the early hours of Tuesday, May 14, on suspicion of murdering 26-year-old Jazmel Patterson-Low.

The Met says the man remains in custody.

An investigation was launched after medical staff at St Thomas’ Hospital called police at around 2.30am on Saturday 11 May.

They reported that the victim, with a gunshot wound, was dropped off at the hospital in a private car.

Despite the best efforts of medical staff, Mr Patterson-Low sadly died shortly after 3am.

Investigate

Detective Inspector Martin Thorpe, Specialist Crime, is leading the investigation and said: “This arrest shows that our investigation is making progress, but I am still appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch.

“We know a group of around 40 people gathered in and around St Rule Street on Friday night and into the early hours of Saturday morning. A dispute appears to have erupted shortly after 2 a.m., leading to the shooting.

“A number of people have come forward to provide information and I am extremely grateful. However, I’m sure there are other people who will know what happened on St Rule Street and who was responsible for the shooting. I urge them to come forward and share this information.”

Mr Patterson-Low’s family are being supported by specially trained officers.

He was shot at around 2.25am that morning on the Westbury Estate in St Rule Street in Lambeth.

A post-mortem examination found that Mr Patterson-Low’s cause of death was a single gunshot wound.

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Squad are leading the murder investigation.

Anyone with information or footage is asked to call police on 101 quoting reference 884/11 May. Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
