US and Canada to negotiate maritime border in Beaufort Sea – Reuters statement

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States and Canada announced a plan to negotiate the maritime border in the Beaufort Sea on Tuesday, creating a task force this fall to negotiate their shared northern border and resolve overlap along the continental shelf.

The group will work on a final agreement covering the border area, which lies north of Alaska, the Yukon and the Northwest Territories, the US State Department said.
