Manchester City announce the departure of the quartet

The Cityzens announced the news via a post on their official club X account this afternoon.

Filippa Angeldahl, Ruby Mace, Ellie Roebuck and Demi Stokes move on. They join captain Steph Houghton in leaving the Joie Stadium this summer.

Swedish midfielder Angeldahl joined Manchester City in the summer of 2021. She made 26 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Super League scoring two goals.

Defender Mace has also signed for Manchester City in the summer of 2021 after leaving their Barclays Women’s Super League rivals Arsenal. She made 13 league appearances, most of which came off the bench.

Goalkeeper Roebuck has been on Manchester City’s books since he was 15 years old. She made her senior debut for the club at the start of 2018 and has featured in all of The Cityzens’ trophy successes since progressing to senior level.

Centre-back Stokes signed for Manchester City in 2015 and went on to represent the club on over 150 occasions. Like Roebuck, the defender has featured in every trophy The Cityzens have won in recent times.

Given Manchester City’s results this summer, the club are expected to be very active in the transfer window over the coming months.
