Sean “Diddy” Combs, the hip-hop mogul and music entrepreneur, and Sam Bankman-Fried, the disaffected founder of the failed cryptocurrency exchange FTX, are now sharing housing at a federal detention center in Brooklyn, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn houses both inmates in a specialized unit designed for defendants who require extra protection. This boat-style area, which holds between 18 and 20 inmates, is home to two people from recent court proceedings.

Combs, 54, was arrested last week on racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges. The music director is now in the same unit as Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of crypto exchange FTX.

Bankman-Fried, 32, was convicted in November of fraud involving more than $8 billion. In March, he was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison on seven counts of fraud and conspiracy related to the FTX collapse.

The facility that houses Combs and Bankman-Fried also includes cooperators — inmates who can assist law enforcement and require special protection.

The Bureau of Prisons would not comment on the inmates’ specific living arrangements, citing privacy and security concerns.

Also in April, SBF publicly denied any intentional wrongdoing at the Brooklyn prison, noting its ethical misjudgments and expressing its commitment to refunding FTX customers.

Earlier this year, in February, SBF lawyers sought to reduce his prison sentence to between 63 and 78 months, citing his moral character and contributions to society.
