Paid $8 for the ferry to Sausalito near San Francisco, well worth it

• I paid $8 to take a ferry to Sausalito, California, a nice town with a Mediterranean feel.
• The ferry offered great views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco skyline.
• I enjoyed taking the Golden Gate Ferry and plan to continue traveling into the city.

Although I love living in San Francisco, sometimes I want a more exciting experience in the Bay Area. Lately, when I need a change of pace, I take a half-hour ferry ride to Sausalito, a town about 9 miles from San Francisco.

Named one of the most beautiful coastal towns in the world by Travel and Leisure, this adorable seaside area has a lovely Mediterranean feel and is full of restaurants and shops.. It is known for its art galleries, museums and houseboat community.
