‘Don’t question the fans’ – Paul Merson predicts Sheffield United vs Spurs score – The Spurs Web

Paul Merson has jumped to the defense of Tottenham fans after Ange Postecoglou appeared to rip them off for wanting their side to lose against Manchester City.

Spurs gave a very good picture against Man City, but most Tottenham supporters weren’t too unhappy with the defeat as it ensured Pep Guardiola’s men remain massive favorites to beat Arsenal to the title.

However, one man who was not impressed by what he saw was Postecoglou, with the Tottenham boss’s remarks in his post-match press conference dominating the headlines in recent days.

The Australian insisted that the days leading up to the clash with City had shown him that Spurs’ foundations both internally and externally were quite “fragile” (Football.London).

However, Merson believes the 58-year-old should have kept his mouth shut if he didn’t understand the rivalry between the two north London sides, pointing out that it is Spurs fans who will bear the brunt of the Gunners supporters. The Lilywhites got a result on Tuesday.

Sheffield United vs Tottenham score prediction

When asked to predict the outcome of Tottenham’s clash with Sheffield United, the former Arsenal midfielder told Sportskeeda: “Chelsea have kept Tottenham hungry for the last few weeks so they need to win this game to confirm UEFA Europa League qualification .

“If Spurs can play anywhere close to their full potential they will win this game easily and that’s exactly what I think will happen. It’s been a decent first season for Ange Postecoglou, but he needs to be careful with his comments.

“The Australian was criticized for calling Tottenham’s ‘fragile foundations’ after defeat against Manchester City, apparently referring to the fact that most of their fans were not bothered by the result as it would not be a favorable result for Arsenal in the race for the Premier League title.

“Arsenal vs Tottenham is a huge rivalry and you have to understand it. If you don’t, it’s perfectly fine to say nothing, but don’t question the fans!

“The supporters will be here far longer than any player or manager – they are the heart and soul of the football club. Ange won’t have people calling him every few minutes if Arsenal win the Premier League, so I doubt he knows what the result meant to Tottenham fans. All I’m saying is, he didn’t need to say anything!”

Prediction: Sheffield United 1-3 Tottenham.

Spurs Web Opinion

I suspect Postecoglou let his frustration get the better of him on Tuesday. Maybe he wouldn’t make the same comments if he had the chance to redo the press conference.
