Tornado Cash allows crypto users to exchange tokens while masking their wallet addresses on various blockchains. The service itself is not nefarious, but it is commonly used by criminals to clean up an online trail that could lead to the identity of those moving stolen funds. Alexey Pertsev, the developer of Tornado Cash, was found guilty of money laundering by a Dutch judge in May and sentenced to 64 months in prison.
