Canadian stocks fall at the close; The S&P/TSX Composite was down 0.19% by Investing.com

Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, it was down 0.19%.

The best performers of the session were Lightspeed Commerce Inc (TSX: ), which rose 13.28% or 2.48 points to trade at 21.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Aya Gold & Silver Inc (TSX: ) added 6.44% or 1.12 points to end at 18.52 and Denison Mines Corp (TSX: ) was up 4.55% or 0.11 points to trade at 2.53 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Magna International Inc (TSX: ), which declined 5.48% or 3.15 points to trade at 54.38 at the close. Precision drilling Corporation (TSX: ) declined 4.14% or 3.65 points to 84.50 and Athabasca Oil Corp (TSX: ) declined 4.09% or 0.21 points to 4.92.

Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 539 to 390, with 113 ending unchanged.

Shares of Aya Gold & Silver Inc (TSX:) rose to all-time highs; gaining 6.44% or 1.12 to 18.52.

Gold futures for December delivery rose 0.22%, or 5.90, to $2,682.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, crude for November delivery fell 2.45%, or 1.75%, to $69.81 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.93% or 1.44, to 73.03 dollars per barrel.

CAD/USD was unchanged 0.40% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR was unchanged 0.05% to 0.67.

US dollar index futures rose 0.52% to 100.68.
