Indian stocks fall at close of trade; The Nifty 50 was down 0.14% by Investing.com

Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in the NSE, the index was down 0.14% while the index was down 0.31%.

The best performers of the session on the were Bharat Petroleum Body. Ltd. (NS: ), which rose 6.43% or 22.20 points to trade at 367.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Cipla Ltd. (NS: ) was up 3.13% or 50.70 points to end at 1,672.50 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS: ) was up 2.65% or 50.30 points to to 1,948.70 at the end of trading.

The worst performers of the session were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS: ), which declined 3.06% or 11.20 points to trade at 354.25 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS: ) declined 2.06% or 36.50 points to end at 1,734.60 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:) declined 1.73% or 30.80 points to 1,752.65.

Top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO: ), up 2.67% to 1,949.00, Titan Company Ltd (BO: ), up 1.58%, reaching 3,817.00 and NTPC Ltd ( BO: ), which gained 1.51% to close at 440.95.

The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO: ), which fell 2.75% to 355.20 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO: ), which lost 1.80% to settle settled at 1,307.00 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO: ) which was down 1.74% to 1,739.15 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the National Stock Exchange of India between 1,273 and 1,226, with 84 ending unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1883 declined and 1882 advanced, while 115 ended unchanged.

(BO:) rose to all-time highs; up 2.67% or 50.60 to 1,949.00. Shares of NTPC Ltd (BO:) rose to all-time highs; gaining 1.51% or 6.55 to 440.95.

Gold futures for December delivery were down 0.30%, or 8.00, at $2,686.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, crude for November delivery rose 0.35%, or 0.24, to $67.91 a barrel, while the December Brent crude contract rose 0.27% or 0.19, to 71.28 dollars per barrel.

USD/INR rose 0.08% to 83.69, while EUR/INR rose 0.03% to 93.47.

US dollar index futures fell 0.08% to 100.16.
