AXA XL promotes Flanagan to head P&C Bermuda; Intangic Names Cryer as Dir. of Customer Solutions; Dale appoints Daniel Head of Global Property Reinsurance

AXA XL promotes Flanagan to head of P&C Bermuda

AX XL announced that Mark Flanagan has been appointed to the new role of Head of Property & Casualty, Bermuda.

Flanagan, who reports to Noel PearmanChief Underwriting Officer, Bermuda within AXA XL’s insurance business, has over 20 years of underwriting experience, including the last 12 years with AXA XL.

In the new role, his responsibilities include leading the P&C underwriting team in Bermuda, with a focus on growing the real estate business line, as well as developing and managing client relationships across both lines of business. In addition, he will lead a customer-centric approach in delivering consistent, innovative and customized solutions.

Flanagan was previously Senior Vice President, Head Property Underwriter/Head of Bermuda Property at AXA XL.

He holds a Master of Arts in Economics and Accounting from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, a Master of Science in Energy and Fire Safety Engineering from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh and a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Risk Management from Edinburgh Business School. Received the FCII: Fellow & Chartered Insurer designation from the Chartered Insurance Institute in London, UK.

Members of the Bermuda Property & Casualty management team reporting to Flanagan are:

  • Rebecca Dupré – Senior Vice President, Head of Casualty Products – who has 36 years of experience in the insurance industry in Bermuda and the US. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of New Orleans.
  • Karen Smith – Senior Vice President, Casualty Products, who has 20 years of industry experience. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from McMaster University and a Master’s degree from the University of Ottawa. She has also earned Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designations.
  • Arketa Tucker – senior vice president, product line leader who has 24 years of industry experience. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from St. John’s University (formerly The College of Insurance) in New York and is a member of the Bermuda Society for Healthcare Risk Management (BSHRM), which is a chapter of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management.   • Stephanie Outerbridge – Vice President, Real Estate Underwriting Manager, who has 12 years of experience in the industry. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University and earned the CPCU and ARe designations.

Intangic names Cryer as director of client solutions

Intangiblethe Luxembourg-based general cyber management agent and technology risk platform, announced his appointment Joshua Cryer as director of Client Solutions.

Cryer brings over a decade of experience to the role. Prior to joining Intangic, he served as Director of Risk and Insurance at THG (formerly The Hut Group) and Virgin Atlantic, where he was responsible for both enterprise risk and insurance. He began his career as an insurance broker servicing and managing large complex clients at Willis Towers Watson and Gallagher.

In his role, Cryer is responsible for Intangic’s customer solutions, reporting to Ryan Doddfounder and executive director. His experience will enable Intangic to continue to develop its own client solutions that bring a new approach to helping large, complex organizations identify, manage and mitigate technology risk.

“Based on my regular interaction with both CIOs/Insurance and Homeland Security teams, it was clear that the market needed alternative approaches to both understanding and transferring a dynamic risk such as cyber,” Cryer said.

Dale Underwriting appoints Daniel as Head of Global Property Reinsurance

Dale Underwriting Partnersthe trading name for Lloyd’s Syndicate 1729 of Dale Managing Agency Ltd., announced his appointment Paul Daniel as Head of Global Property Reinsurance, effective October 28, 2024.

Based in London, Daniel will be responsible for leading Dale’s global property reinsurance business and will report to Ian Bridgeactive insurer.

Daniel joins Dale from Berkley Re, where he was Head of International Short Tail Treaty. He brings with him over 30 years of industry experience, having started his career at GE Oatley in 1989 and moved to JH Venton Syndicate in 1994 where he worked as an assistant underwriter on the DF property and treaty accounts.

He joined Talbot Underwriting in 2001 where he spent 22 years underwriting Property Treaty and purchasing syndicate retrospective protection, the last seven years as Head of Treaty responsible for Property, Aviation and Specialty.

Dale Underwriting Partners commenced trading on 1 January 2014 with the formation of Lloyd’s Syndicate 1729. The syndicate underwrites property, casualty, medical liability, specialty, marine and energy reinsurance. In 2021, he announced a new joint venture, Dale DUAL MGU Ltd. In 2022, Dale was authorized to establish his management agency at Lloyd’s, Dale Managing Agency Ltd.
