5 key players who inspired Leicester’s immediate return to the Premier League

Leicester are back in the Premier League after sealing automatic promotion to the Sky Bet Championship.

It has been a brilliant season for the Foxes under Enzo Maresca, even if they have threatened to make a mess in recent months.

Here, the PA news agency profiles five key players in their memorable campaign.

Abdul Fatawu

The Ghana international made a big impact during his loan spell at Sporting Lisbon. He scored six goals from the wing, including a hat-trick in the 5-0 thrashing of Southampton, and provided 12 assists.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

The midfielder is sure to win the club’s player of the year after proving he is far too good for the Championship. The Foxes youth product scored an impressive 12 goals and created a further 14 and appeared in every game.

Jannik Vestergaard

Vestergaard was the rock of the Leicester defense that was, for the most part, so solid. The Foxes have conceded less than a goal per game all season and the Denmark international’s composure and class has been a key reason.

Stephy Mavididi

Mavididi’s form in the first half of the season was a big reason why Leicester looked set to run away with the league. He dipped after January, but 12 goals and six assists is still an impressive return.

There is a Denmark goalkeeper tradition at Leicester and Hermansen lived up to the billing. The 23-year-old kept 13 clean sheets, making 114 saves along the way. He provided reliability with his hands and feet.
