Boeing wage talks have broken down without progress to end strike, union says By Reuters

(Reuters) – The International Association of Machinists and Aeronautical Workers (IAM) said late on Friday that its wage agreement negotiations with Boeing (NYSE: ) have broken down and that there are no more dates scheduled for negotiations at this time.

“We remain open to discussions with the company, either directly or through mediation,” IAM said in a post on X.

Boeing remains committed to resetting its relationship with its represented employees and wants to “reach an agreement as soon as possible,” a company spokesman said in an email. “We are ready to meet at any time.”

More than 32,000 Boeing workers in the Seattle and Portland, Ore., areas walked off the job Sept. 13 in the union’s first strike since 2008, halting production of airplane models including Boeing’s best-selling 737 MAX.

The union is seeking a 40 percent pay increase and the reinstatement of a defined benefit pension that was taken away by contract a decade ago.

Boeing on Monday made an improved offer to striking workers, which it described as its “best and final,” which would give workers a 30 percent raise over four years and restore a performance bonus. but the union said a survey of its members found that was not enough.
