Japan’s incoming prime minister Ishiba calls for loose monetary policy Reuters

TOKYO (Reuters) – Japan’s incoming prime minister, Shigeru Ishiba, said on Sunday that the country’s monetary policy must remain accommodative in its stance.

“It’s something the Bank of Japan, which has a mandate to achieve price stability, will decide while working closely with the government,” Ishiba told public broadcaster NHK when asked about the bank’s next rate hike central.

“From the government’s point of view, monetary policy needs to remain accommodative in trend given the current economic conditions,” he said.
