Ellie Roebuck, Demi Stokes, Ruby Mace and Filippa Angeldahl will all leave Manchester City at the end of the season.

The quartet’s departure comes after captain Steph Houghton confirmed his retirement from the game.

Goalkeeper Roebuck has made 136 appearances in all competitions, her tally of 62 clean sheets in light blue second only to Karen Bardsley.

Demi Stokes is one of three players to make more than 200 appearances since City’s professional relaunch, as well as being their longest-serving defender apart from Steph Houghton.

England U-23 midfielder Mace joined from Arsenal in the summer of 2021, making 29 appearances over the next three seasons, including a successful loan spell at Leicester City.

Fellow midfielder Angeldahl also moved to City at the start of the 2021/22 campaign, making 69 appearances over the next three years in which he scored a stunning brace of goals.

England were beaten by Spain in the final of the UEFA Women’s U-17 Championship
