Indian stocks fall at close of trade; The Nifty 50 was down 0.05% by Investing.com

Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in NSE, it lost 0.05% while the index lost 0.04%.

The best performers of the session on the were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS: ), which rose 3.06% or 48.20 points to trade at 1,625.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS: ) added 2.28% or 70.60 points to end at 3,165.50 and Britannia Industries Ltd (NS: ) was up 1.70% or 107.90 points to trade at 6,446.05 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS: ), which declined 2.62% or 37.90 points to trade at 1,409.70 at the close. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:) declined 1.90% or 5.65 points to 291.95 and Asian paints Ltd. (NS: ) declined 1.55% or 51.75 points to 3,277.35.

Top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO: ), up 2.93% to 1,622.35, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO: ), up 2.22%, to 3,164.85 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO: ) which gained 1.55% to close at 1,881.20.

The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO: ), which fell 2.64% to 1,409.80 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO: ), which lost 1.54% to to settle at 3,277.00 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO: ), which was down 1.03% to 2,928.95 at the close.

Advancers outnumbered decliners on the National Stock Exchange of India by 1430 to 1047 and 104 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2205 advanced and 1591 declined, while 89 ended unchanged.

Gold futures for December delivery rose 0.42%, or 11.20, to $2,670.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, crude for November delivery fell 0.67%, or 0.46, to $67.71 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.59 % or 0.42, up to 71.28 dollars per barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.01% at 83.83, while EUR/INR was down 0.42% at 92.94.

US dollar index futures rose 0.31% to 100.83.
