Louisiana Southern University to launch Alliant Insurance degree program with $1.4 million investment

Alliant Insurance announced that a first-of-its-kind degree program at Southern University and A&M College has received final approval from the Louisiana State Board of Regents.

The Alliant Insurance Foundation degree plan program at Southern University and A&M College will focus on increasing access to the insurance industry through education and career opportunities. The Alliant Insurance Foundation is giving Southern University System an initial investment of $1.4 million over three years to support the program.

Beginning in the 2024-2025 school year, students can earn a bachelor’s degree in finance, risk management and insurance. Students pursuing this major will complete coursework that educates them on risk management techniques and insurance coverage and equips them with vital risk management tools for application in real-world situations and career planning opportunities.

In addition to creating the academic program, the Alliant Insurance Foundation is committed to investing in the careers of current and future Southern University students through a number of support initiatives. This includes outreach, internship opportunities and job placement support.
