American Water Works Company, Inc. (NYSE: AWK) announced today that it plans to release its third quarter 2024 financial results, 2025 earnings guidance and long-term financial goals after the market closes on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

Susan Hardwick, Executive Director; John Griffith, President; Cheryl Norton, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer; and David Bowler, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, will host a conference call and webcast with investors, analysts and other stakeholders on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The call will include a discussion of third quarter 2024 results, the initiation of 2025 guidance and a discussion of long-term financial targets. There will be a question and answer session as part of the call.

What to expect when AWK releases Q3 earnings

Q3 expectations for AWK

On July 31, American Water Works updated its revenue guidance for the year. The company is now expecting 2024 earnings per share (EPS) to fall within a revised range of $5.25 to $5.30restricting previous guidance a $5.20 to $5.30. This update is based on weather-normalized expectations and includes approx $0.10 per share of increased interest income from a change in early 2024 to the terms of the secured seller receivable related to the 2021 sale of the former Home Owner Service Group (HOS).

Wall Street’s expectation for the October 30 results is earnings per share of $1.89 on revenue of $1.23 billion, compared with $1.66 on $1.167 billion for Q3 2023.

Wall Street’s take on American Water Works

Despite the great year for AWK stock, Wall Street’s consensus outlook for the stock is 2.20 out of 5, or “Hold.” However, the 1-year consensus price target is $144.58, which is 7.55% higher than where the stock is currently trading. Royal Bank of Canada believes the stock has more room to run and has an “Outperform” rating on the stock with a $164 price target.
