Mexico’s president will seek about 12% increase in minimum wage for 2025 and beyond By Reuters

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum will seek to raise the country’s minimum wage by about 12 percent for 2025 and beyond, she said on Thursday.

The minimum wage in economy no. 2 of Latin America stands at a current daily rate of 248.93 pesos ($13.54), following upward adjustments made by the previous administration.

The government will aim for “a wage increase of about 12 percent for next year and so on every year around 12 percent,” she told a daily news conference.

Sheinbaum also said his government would continue to pursue reducing the work week to 40 hours from the current 48 hours, a measure that his predecessor, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, had pursued but failed to enact .
