UK stocks fall at the close; Investing.com UK 100 down 0.13% By Investing.com

Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in London, it lost 0.13%.

The best performers of the session were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON: ), which rose 2.81% or 14.60 points to trade at 533.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Tesco PLC ( LON: ) added 2.56% or 9.10 points to end at 364.00 and Shell PLC ( LON: ) was up 1.71% or 43.00 points to 2,564.00 at the end of transactions.

The worst performers of the session were Phoenix Group Holdings PLC (LON: ), which decreased 5.76% or 32.00 points to 523.50 at the close. Diploma PLC (LON: ) was down 5.10% or 226.00 points to end at 4,208.00 and M&G Plc (LON: ) was down 2.51% or 5.20 points to 202.40 .

Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1018 at 765, with 668 ending unchanged.

Shares of Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON: ) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.81% or 14.60 to 533.40.

Gold futures for December delivery rose 0.04%, or 1.05, to $2,670.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, crude for November delivery rose 4.45%, or 3.12, to $73.22 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 4.21% or 3.11, to 77.01 dollars per barrel.

GBP/USD fell 1.12% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP rose 0.87% to 0.84.

US dollar index futures rose 0.37% to 101.80.
