India and the US will cooperate on essential battery minerals, the commerce minister said, according to Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said on Thursday he had struck a deal with U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo to cooperate in supply chains of minerals essential for batteries used in electric vehicles and other clean energy .

Goyal made the comments during an event at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington after meeting Raimondo early Thursday. He described the agreement as a memorandum of understanding, but did not provide further details on its scope.
