NHTSA opens probe into 360,000 Ford SUVs over brake failure

A U.S. auto safety regulator said Friday it is investigating 368,309 Ford crossover SUVs in the country over a loss of braking caused by a rear brake hose failure.

The preliminary review covers some Ford Edge crossovers from the 2015 to 2017 model years, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

The complaints also allege that the loss of braking capability occurs without any prior warning and results in a longer stopping distance, the regulator said.

Ford said it is working with NHTSA to support its investigation.
