Warrington Wolves and Leeds Rhinos Women head to Wembley on June 8

Warrington will take their long-running local rivalry with Wigan to Wembley for the first time since 1990 after beating Huddersfield Giants 46-10 in the second Betfred Challenge Cup semi-final at St Helens on Sunday.

Sam Burgess’s Wolves raced into a 22-4 half-time lead, England captain George Williams outstanding, and finished with eight tries, meaning their first and blue will face the cherry and whites of Wigan at Wembley on Saturday 8 June.

Wigan won the teams’ only previous cup final meeting 36-14, with two tries each for Kevin Iro and Mark Preston, and Andy Gregory taking the Lance Todd Trophy as man of the match.

Current side Wigan Warriors booked their first Wembley appearance for seven years with an equally impressive 38-6 win over Hull KR at the Eco-Power Stadium in Doncaster on Saturday.

Second Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Final at Wembley will be a repeat of the first between Leeds Rhinos and St Helens after the Rhinos withstood an inventive challenge from Wigan Warriors to secure a 34-20 victory in the second semi-final.

Saints, who hold the Cup from 2021 and were the first women’s Wembley winners against the Rhinos last August, secured their chance of a fourth straight Cup win by beating York Valkyrie 32-2 in the first semi-final of on Saturday at the Eco-Power Stadium. .

Sheffield Eagles and Wakefield Trinity will complete action at Wembley on June 8 after securing their places in the 1895 AB Sundecks Cup Final – the cup competition for non-Super League clubs.

And the first of the season’s three Betfred Challenge Cup finals will take place in Sheffield at the English Institute of Sport on Saturday June 1 when Catalans Dragons take on Wigan Warriors.
