Virgil van Dijk was reduced to tears during his emotional interview at Liverpool after being hugged by Jurgen Klopp

An emotional Virgil van Dijk was left speechless after Jurgen Klopp’s final game as Liverpool manager.

The Reds ended their campaign and the Germans’ tenure on a high with a comfortable 2-0 win over 10-man Wolverhampton Wanderers. Nelson Semedo was shown a red card for a reckless challenge on Alexis Mac Allister and within minutes, Liverpool capitalized on their numerical advantage.




The Argentine nodded past Jose Sa from Harvey Elliott’s cross before Jarell Quansah scored his second in as many games in the first half.

With the game heading towards a win for Liverpool, Anfield erupted into a continuous loop of Klopp’s ‘I’m so glad’ song. After the full-time whistle, Klopp shook hands with both players and officials before sharing a hug with his captain.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Van Dijk said: “I’m speechless, it’s an emotional day. Liverpool is special.

“It was always going to be a tough afternoon for everybody for different reasons, we wanted to win the game, do our job and then be really emotional after the game. We will be.”
