Tottenham clinched their place in the Europa League with a 3-0 season-ending win over bottom-placed Sheffield United

SHEFFIELD, England (AP) — Tottenham clinched a spot in next season’s Europa League with a late-season 3-0 win over Premier League relegated Sheffield United.

A defeat could have pushed Spurs into sixth place and into the Europa Conference League, but Dejan Kulusevski’s brace and Pedro Porro’s strike ensured they finished fifth in Ange Postecoglou’s first year in charge.

Sheffield were already assured of finishing last after a season in which the Blades recorded the third-fewest points tally in Premier League history with 16, conceding 104 goals.

Tottenham took the lead in the 14th minute when the ball fell to Kulusevski 10 yards out and he drilled into the bottom corner.

Sheffield goalkeeper Wes Foderingham made a number of good saves before Spurs doubled their lead from a breakaway when Porro unleashed an unstoppable drive into the roof of the net just before the hour mark.

Kulusevski got the second in the 65th minute, sliding home Son Heung-min’s cross.
