Influencer totals $200,000 McLaren during live stream

Jack Doherty, a 20-year-old YouTube and Kick influencer, may have taught his followers a valuable (and expensive) lesson over the weekend: ignore your phone while driving.

Doherty wrecked his custom McLaren supercar on Saturday during a live stream where he was seen looking at the phone in hand as he drove around smooth roads in Miami. Seconds later, he apparently lost control of the vehicle and hit a bumper, destroying the front of the car.

Doherty was not injured in the crash. A passenger filming the live feed was seen bleeding and moaning, but the extent of his injuries could not be confirmed. (Doherty told another streamer that the passenger received three stitches.)

Not only did the wreck apparently total the car, but Doherty also started Kick, a streaming platform that competes with YouTube and Twitch. Its website page redirects to a 404 error.

Doherty paid $202,850.10 for the vehicle last year, according to a video on his YouTube channel. And he didn’t take the wreck well, kicking his custom-painted vehicle a time or two after the incident.

“All my money is gone,” he exclaimed. “The exhaust, the whole body kit, my insurance will cover that, right? … Sadness cannot even express how sad I really am.”

Doherty, who has 14.9 million YouTube subscribers and has been an influencer since the age of 14, continued to film after the wreck as the car was towed and as he returned home to his waiting mother, who scolded him for that he was driving and texting in the middle. motherly hugs and worries.
