The best fall decorations and the tackiest to ignore: interior designer

  • Interior designer Ashley Childers shares her favorite fall decor pieces and ones to skip.
  • “I see people going overboard with the fake: fake pumpkins, fake plants, fake everything,” she said.
  • Natural crown moldings and cozy wool blankets will make the interior design of your home high and cozy.

The arrival of fall means pulling out the pumpkins, whimsical fall colors, and cozy pillows and blankets.

However, while some fall decorations can make your home feel warm, uplifted, and inviting, others can drain your space of energy and limit your tackiness. Seasonal decor can also get expensive, so investing in a few timeless pieces that will last year after year can end up saving you money in the long run.

“A lot of times, I feel like holiday decorating is disconnected from what the aesthetic of the home you live in is. It should be cohesive, in my opinion,” Ashley Childers, interior designer and designer of furniture and home accessories. based in Arkansas, told Business Insider.

“On the opposite end of the spectrum, I see a lot of people who have a very clean style who feel like they can’t decorate for the holidays because they don’t want it to be tacky or cheesy,” she said. “If you want to decorate for the holidays, you can do it in a beautiful way.”

Here are five tasteful fall decorations to add to your home and three tacky ones to skip, according to Childers.
