China expresses concern over US policies on chips and connected vehicles By Reuters

BEIJING (Reuters) – China’s commerce minister expressed “serious concerns” to the U.S. Commerce Secretary on Tuesday about U.S. semiconductor policies toward China and restrictions on China’s connected vehicles, calling for sanctions against Chinese companies to be lifted.

During a call with Gina Raimondo, Wang Wentao stressed the need to clarify national security boundaries in trade to ensure the stability of the global supply chain and encourage bilateral trade cooperation.

“China urges the US to address the specific concerns of Chinese companies, lift sanctions as soon as possible and improve the business environment for Chinese firms in the US,” Wang was quoted as saying in a ministry statement.

Wang also stated China’s willingness to work with the US to restore bilateral economic relations, the statement said.

The ministry noted that both sides held frank, in-depth and practical discussions on mutual economic and trade concerns.
