The tea dance helps the active older generation

Alexandra Sacker from Home Instead Enfield on the simple joy of a May Day tea dance

As many of you know, a rainy holiday Monday can be a dull affair. Neighbors and relatives may be gone for the weekend, public places are more crowded than usual, and public transportation is less reliable.

There a tea dance becomes a welcome diversion and this was the case at the beginning of May when the Enfield community had the opportunity to come together for a cup of tea, sandwiches and cake in the lovely Lancaster UR Church Hall in Armfield. Road.

Bands were entertained by professional entertainer Ian who is well known in and around Enfield and some attendees entered the
an impromptu line-dancing session that roused everyone to give it a go. It was great fun and people left with huge smiles on their faces despite the drizzling rain outside.

This story is published by the Enfield Dispatch, Enfield’s free monthly newspaper and free news website. We are a non-profit publication published by a small social enterprise. We have no wealthy backers and rely on the support of our readers. Donate or become a supporter.

Home Instead Enfield is a local private care provider supporting the community at home with care tailored to suit individuals’ needs. We also run a successful bi-weekly memory lunch club for those with and without memory problems and sometimes organize
events like this.

Home Instead Charities, whose tenth anniversary is being celebrated this year, supports such projects with grants that enable heavily subsidized events such as last year’s Sunday Silver Walk in Southend.

The May Day Tea Dance raised over £100 for a future event and Home Instead Enfield is planning several fundraisers this year to increase the pot for another day trip in 2025.
