We saw Leeds United completely dismantle Norwich City and Southampton should be worried

Two Championship heavyweights will clash at Wembley for a week today. There was little to separate Leeds United and Southampton during the regular season. Three points actually.

But despite finishing one place below the Whites in the table, the Saints will go into the final feeling confident of their chances. They have a big psychological advantage, they have already beaten the whites twice this term.

History is on Southampton’s side, but does that mean they will win next week? What the hell?

United made the attacking players hurt Southampton. Their front four ran Norwich City ragged in the second leg.

Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Wilfried Gnonto and Joel Piroe are a few at this level. Piroe gave Farke a welcome selection headache ahead of the biggest game of the campaign. He was a real focal point at Elland Road and fitted in well with Summerville, Rutter and Gnonto.

Whether Patrick Bamford will return next week remains to be seen. Farke will no doubt provide a fitness update on the striker in the next couple of days.

Even if Bamford misses out, Farke will still have plenty of attacking options at his disposal. Daniel James, Jaidon Anthony and Mateo Joseph will all be hoping to play a part in the final game of a grueling season. The strength in depth that the Whites have in attacking areas is terrifying and the envy of the division.

Yes, Southampton are a very good team and have some very talented footballers in their ranks. Yes, Southampton have won the last two meetings with Leeds.

But the rankings don’t lie and United finished above Southampton for a reason. The time has come for Leeds to end their well-documented play-off run and return to the promised land.
