US presents potential remedies to Google’s Reuters search

(Reuters) – The U.S. Justice Department said on Tuesday it is considering asking a judge to force Alphabet’s (NASDAQ: ) Google to end exclusive deals that the court previously ruled helped give the big tech a monopoly in online search.

The Justice Department’s broad proposals are the next step in a landmark case that has the potential to reshape how Americans find information on the Internet after a judge found that Google, which processes 90 percent of U.S. Internet searches, and -built an illegal monopoly.

Prosecutors are expected to submit a more detailed proposal to the court by November 20.
