Community Life Month Flag Raising Ceremony

Cornwall, Ontario – Community Living Stormont County marked the beginning of Community Living Month by hosting its annual flag raising ceremony on May 9th at 340 Pitt Street. The event was attended by the Mayor of Cornwall, Justin Towndale, who officially proclaimed the month of May as Community Life Month.

“Community Living provides an important service to our community. They help people so they can stay in their homes and live a more normal life. I think it’s important because it helps with the dignity and independence of these people,” Mayor Towndale said.

The month-long recognition includes various events, including the lighting of a Second Street fountain in Community Living colors. Notably, there will be a presentation at the Ramada Inn on May 21st by MichaelJacques, an autism and intellectual disability advocate who has also written two books and served as Chair of the Board of Community Living Ontario.

“We recognize May as Community Living Month by holding special events across the province,” said Michelle Alguire, County Executive of Community Living Stormont.

Councilman Martin Gervais witnessed the flag raising, while Councilman Randy Sabourin was also one of the many people in attendance.
