Press conference Ange Postecoglou – Tottenham boss on Kulusevski, victory and Europa League

Good evening and welcome to live coverage of Ange Postecoglou’s post-match press conference following Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Sheffield United.

After Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat against Man City, Ange Postecoglou made a change to the Spurs XI, with Dejan Kulusevski replacing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Kulusevski, who started in the middle of Tottenham’s front three, would have a key say in the game in the 14th minute when he found the net with a darting drive that gave Wes Foderingham no chance.

He then went close to a second of the contest not long after, but Foderingham was on hand this time to deny him, before the keeper denied Son Heung-min and James Maddison with fine saves.

Spurs then conceded a crucial second goal on the hour, Pedro Porro finding the net in style after the ball had fallen kindly on the edge of the area.

It was to get even better for the visitors moments later as Kulusevski grabbed his second of the competition from close range after Maddison’s low cross from the left.

Our Tottenham correspondent Rob Guest is among those asking Postecoglou questions after the game. Scroll down for his latest updates from the press conference at Bramall Lane.

Every word from Angel

Here’s every word Ange Postecoglou had to say in his post-match press conference.

Read here.

Upset about how much he enjoyed his first season

Contrary to my general demeanor, I loved every minute of it. It’s a big challenge in the Premier League and taking over a big club that didn’t have a great year last year. You understand it’s not going to go well. I enjoyed the whole season. I have some big ambitions for the football club and until we get to that point I won’t be smiling too much. As I said, every manager wants maximum effort and we got that from everyone involved. I enjoyed it and look forward to going further from here.

I am upset if Lo Celso will go despite his absence today

He’s been training so we’ll wait and see how he stops and meet him at the airport.

I’m upset if his full squad today goes to Australia

Yep, that’s the plan, unless someone runs into trouble. This is the plan.

Ange in his first year in N17

It was good, it was eventful, it had a bit of everything. Obviously I’m not happy with the way we finished the season but to be fair to the players and the staff we were in the top five all season in a year where there was a bit of an upheaval, we finished eighth last year , changing players. , different football, different way of training, it’s not easy to maintain a level when you try to do that.

Angel for Kulusevski’s performance

I thought Deki was good. He has worked awfully hard this year without much reward in the front third. We thought playing him in the middle today would help us with his mobility and ability to run at the back. He did good. He always works hard but it’s that kind of final three where we need him to get the rewards and he got them today so he did well.

Angels to victory

I thought it was pretty good. I thought it was important to put in a decent performance today and win the game for a number of reasons. I thought the boys did pretty well. It’s always a bit difficult the last game of the year, Sheffield United have nothing to play for so it can be easy not to have the right mindset but I thought for the most part we had that tonight. Three goals… I thought Wes Foderingham was outstanding. Overall, I think it was an important win and a good performance.
