Canadian stocks up at close; The S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.63% by Investing.com

Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, it was up 0.63% to hit a new all-time high.

The best performers of the session on the were Bird Construction Inc . (TSX: ), which rose 11.88% or 3.17 points to trade at 29.86 at the close. Meanwhile, Interfor Corp (TSX: ) added 5.07% or 1.00 points to end at 20.74 and Celestica Inc. (TSX: ) traded up 4.72% or 3.59 points to 79.63 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Brookfield Business Partners LP (TSX: ), which decreased 4.66% or 1.51 points to trade at 30.89 at the close. Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX: ) declined 3.26% or 0.25 points to 7.42 and Northwest Healthcare Properties REIT (TSX: ) declined 3.23% or 0.18 points to 5.40.

Advancers outnumbered decliners on the Toronto Stock Exchange 535 to 369, with 115 ending unchanged.

Gold futures for December delivery fell 0.37 percent, or 9.65, to $2,625.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, crude for November delivery fell 0.39%, or 0.29, to $73.28 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.66 % or 0.51, up to 76.67 dollars per barrel.

CAD/USD was unchanged 0.49% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR was unchanged 0.07% to 0.67.

US dollar index futures rose 0.39% to 102.70.
