Retail sales in Germany rose 2.1% year-on-year in August

German retail sales rose 1.6 percent month-on-month in August, official data released by Destatis showed on Thursday.

June’s monthly retail sales figure for Germany was -1.1%, while July’s was 1.5%.

Annually, retail sales in the euro zone’s largest economy rose 2.1% in August.

German data fails to move the needle around the euro, keeping EUR/USD around 1.0935, flat on the day at the time of writing.
