Sheffield Utd boss Wilder gives brutal assessment of Spurs defeat: We went out the back door

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder admits he was outplayed by Tottenham in Sunday’s season finale.

The relegated Blades were beaten 3-0 by Spurs that day.

Wilder later admitted: “I’m extremely disappointed.

“I thought we went out the back door a little bit in the second half. It was an incredibly tough season from start to finish, but once again it represented everything this season is about. Absolutely superb support, really good start again. And again, it’s both boxes.

“We have glorious chances to go 2-0 up after 20 minutes, and it’s one team in the first 20 or 25 minutes. They have only one opportunity through our poor play, we should play forward and turn inside. My right center half thinks it’s fair to go forward and open everything up, there’s a missed tackle and a missed block. So you make a mistake and you think, once again, can we get over it by fixing it?

“It goes one, two, three and then you look at the Premier League and Kulusevski and the finish he finds in the bottom corner. And against the run of play we’re 1-0 down and he put a needle in the bullpen straight away with what he did for the boys’ confidence and belief. And I think you saw the attitude of the team and the group really, it shone right through at that particular moment. And I have to say it was pretty comfortable for Spurs for 70 minutes.”
