Lufthansa Flight # LH499 to Frankfurt has been diverted to Manchester.

A Boeing 747-8 from Mexico City to Frankfurt was diverted to Manchester Airport.

Flight #LH499 departed MEX on Saturday, May 18, 2024 and was scheduled to land in Frankfurt approximately 10 hours later.

But in the early afternoon, onlookers were delighted to welcome the ‘Queen’ to a rare sight in Manchester.

While cruising at 39,000 ft, the crew contacted ATC regarding an urgent medical emergency on board.

The Boeing aircraft (registration D-ABYO) was flown to Manchester, where it landed 30 minutes later at 12:00 BST.

The 10-year-old aircraft resumed its flight to FRA airport at 15:00 BST and landed at FRA airport at 18:08 CEST.
