Ally McCoist and Dion Dublin disagree on the final result of the Leeds United vs Southampton play-off

Ally McCoist and Dion Dublin has had his say on the upcoming Championship play-off final between Leeds United and Southampton. Both sides came up short in the race for automatic promotion, with Leicester City winning the league and Ipswich Town finishing second.

But United and Southampton made home advantage count in the second legs of their semi-finals with Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion respectively to set up a mouth-watering showdown at Wembley on Sunday. It is considered the richest game in world football and a place in the Premier League will be on the line.

The bookmakers like the whites to come out on top in the football house. History is not on United’s side though, with the West Yorkshire side failing to win in five previous play-off attempts.

talkSPORT pundit McCoist has backed United to secure an immediate return to the top flight with a penalty shootout win. Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “I think one will go all the way and I’m taking Leeds to win on penalties. I’m not completely on the fence, I think it’s going to be a great game.”

Southampton have the psychological advantage, having beaten the Whites twice in the regular season. And the BBC’s Dublin pundit praised the work Saints boss Russell Martin has done to turn their fortunes around by giving Southampton the upper hand to beat United in the premier final.

Dublin said: “I know Russ as well and I love watching them play and I think they’re doing things the right way and he’s a young manager coming up so I’ll go – it’s difficult because Leeds are good – but I’m going to Southampton.”
